Clydeside Initiative For Arts Has Secured 1.85m In Funding To Enhance The Immediate Area Around SWG3

SWG3’s charitable arm, Clydeside Initiative for Arts, has received a grant from the Scottish Government to fund the transformation of the derelict land around the perimeter of the venue.

Part of a major effort to revitalise the River Clyde, the grant will enable them to deliver work that will significantly improve the experience for visitors coming to the area.

“From a new creative thoroughfare with public art and improved lighting on Eastvale Place, to opening up access to a new community garden and growing space, this grant will help us to dramatically improve this vibrant corner of the city for local people and visitors to discover,” said SWG3 Founder and Director Andrew Fleming Brown.

SWG3 is one of eleven projects to receive funding throughout Scotland under the banner of the Clyde Mission Fund. The Clyde Mission covers the area either side of the River Clyde, from its tidal reach near Clyde Gateway in the east of Glasgow through to the mouth of the river between Gourock and Dunoon.

Other successful applications include a new work and education space in Dunoon, installation of a low carbon heating system to support the redevelopment of the community-owned Govan Old Church, and enabling works for the development of the Scottish Marine Technology Park (SMTP) in West Dunbartonshire.

It is anticipated that these projects will support the creation of 386 jobs in the short term, and more than 500 jobs and at least 29 apprenticeships in the longer term. It is estimated that the projects will also support 381 existing jobs and unlock additional investment of over £14 million.
